The third national exhibition from the sequence “Bulgaria's treasures” , entitled “Gods, people and masks” will be officially opened tomorrow in the Regional historical museum in Varna, Bulgaria, informs Darik radio.

74 exponents from 16 museums throughout the country will be exhibited. The exponents belong to the National archaeological museum, National historical museum, the Regional historical museums in Bourgas, Stara Zagora, Blagoevgrad, Vidin, Pleven, Lovech, Veliko Tarnovo, Razgrad, Silistra and the historical museums in Balchik, Devnya, Svishtov and Petrich.

The antiques date back to 6 century BC to 5 century AD, informs the scientific consultant of the exhibition Alexander Minchev. The main idea of the specialists is through the treasures to present the religious worldviews of the three main ethnic groups: Thracians, Elines (Greeks) and Romans who have lived on the Bulgarian lands.

The visitors will be able to see statuettes of gods and people made of gold, silver, bronze and marble. The main attraction will be two golden masks – of a Thracian ruler and a golden mask with a golden hand and a ring from the necropolis at Trebenishte, Macedonia.

Along with the famous exponents, the visitors will be able to see 10 new ones, which have never been exhibited, said Minchev. Among them is a Statue of Orpheus with the animals, which is partly restored, a portrait head of the Roman emperor Alexander Sever as well as several bronze statuettes found in the last years.
