A replica of the Eiffel Tower and a Frech patisserie are the new attractions in the resort
Celebrations for the fiftieth anniversary of Bulgaria's most fashionable Golden Sands (Zlatni Pyasatsi) Black Sea resort will continue throughout the week. Plenty of Champagne bottles will be uncorked and fireworks will lit the sky every night. There will be a non-stop party everywhere. The elite resort has been operating for 50 years and the event will be celebrated for seven days in a row. Golden Sands administration and tour operators expect to welcome the 15 millionth guest. The lucky man or woman will be nicely surprised with a free vacation. The resort is already packed with holidaymakers, VIP guests and hundreds of veterans of the tourist industry.
A concert with a rich folklore programme gave the start to the festive week. There will be many more events, concerts and festivals. Vili Kazasyan's Big Band will delight the audience with a concert for the finale. A grand cocktail party will follow with more than 1000 guests. Varna Municipality and the associations of the hotel and the restaurant-keepers in Golden Sands are prepared to lavish 200 000 levs (1euro = 1,95 levs) for the celebrations.
Many new tourist attractions will open specially for the event. One of them is a mini replica of the Eiffel Tower that looks as it has been just transported from Paris.
Visitors will climb up to the top and admire a breath-taking view of the resort. There is a Frech patisserie inside the tower. The promenade along the beach was extended with one kilometer for the summer season, now leads to the Golden Sands marina. Foreign holidaymakers are stunned by the luxury yachts berthed there. " It is as if we were in Monaco" is the most frequent remark. A new mini golf complex is taken the place of what it used to be a dumping ground. A fish barbeque restaurant Nirvana has been opened recently. Specialties on the menu are cooked after Byzantine, Slav, Balkan and Mediterranean recipes. Last summer a huge Ferris wheel was placed in the center of the resort. Golden Sand is also the Bulgarian Mecca for the gambling fans. The resort has a busy nightlife that offers many entertainments: variety shows and clubs that offer music to any taste.
