View Full Version : A little translation favour

Hi, I've just spent a month in Bulgaria sorting out papers for a car I imported from Germany (not something I'd recommend!) and have to go back again in a couple of weeks for a while. I want to put an ad in a local shop window asking for someone who can help me learn Bulgarian. I sat down with an English-Bulgarian dictionary and it obviously wasn't going to work if I just translated the words literally. I was wondering if anyone could offer a little help?

I would like to say something along the lines of:

Bulgarian Teacher Wanted for keen English students based in Kipilovo. Teaching experience and some English would be useful. Call Niall on ........

It doesn't have to be those exact words - most importantly it needs to make sense to your average Bulgarian! It would be great if it was in Cyrillic.

By the way I'm really enjoying learing Bulgarian, it's not half as tough as I thought it would be, though I'm at the very early stages right now. I'm just getting very frustrated that I can't talk properly to people I like very much, and also having to rely very heavily on one or two English speaking Bulgarian friends (which is why I am not asking any of them with help writing this ad).

Any help would be most appreciated.

Niall

PS. I must relay my experience of trying to bring a car into Bulgaria. I looked on a lot of forums for information but with not much success. If I knew then what I know now, I'd never have done it. Mind you, I suppose all might change after Jan 07.

Hi Niall
This could be a good tralsnlation of your ad into bulgarian .

Търси се учител по български, който би могъл да дава уроци на мили англичани, намиращи се в Кипилово. Опит в преподаването и познания по английски биха били много полезни.
За повече информация, моля свържете се с Niall

Good luck with learnig bulgarian language!

Dear Suzanne
thank you very much for your help. I'll let you know how I get on after I return to BG in a couple of weeks. I'm really enjoying learning Bulgarian, though I've got a very long way to go.

Kind regards

Niall
