British Airways canceled its flight from London to Sofia that was supposed to take off at 14.35 pm on August 10.
Bulgaria Air carried out its flight from London at 7.45 this morning, Darik Radio reported.
The national carrier warned that delays were possible due to the increased security measures at British airports.
Another Bulgarian carrier, Hemus Air, said it was not going to cancel its flight to London, scheduled for the evening of August 11. If Heathrow Airport was closed Hemus Air could negotiate with other British airports, company director Dimitar Pavlov said.
Schedule changes and increased security measures resulted from the fact that British police and anti-terrorism units prevented a terrorist act targeting passenger aircraft, Focus news agency reported.
During an anti-terrorism operation British police detained 21 people in relation to the scheme. Scotland Yard confirmed the information.
The operation started several months ago. British police representatives said that the aim of the terrorist act was the mass killing of passengers, Focus news agency reported.
