On Sunday, March 26, at 3 a.m. Bulgaria will unwind clocks with an hour ahead to return to daylight saving astronomic time.

In accordance with chronology rules installed by the Bulgarian government, the country will switch to Daylight Saving Time for the period between March 27 to October 30, 2006.

Bulgaria introduced the time-saving switch in summer and winter in 1979, almost seventy years after it was applied for the first time in Great Britain, in 1908.

Since 1981 European Community (EC) Directives have prescribed the start and end dates of summer time in member states. These are set as the last Sundays in March and October respectively.
