Bulgaria's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivailo Kalfin thanked his French counterpart for the support France gave to the Bulgarian nurses in Libya

"France is going to ratify in time Bulgaria's EU Accession Treaty," France's Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy stated after his meeting with Bulgaria's Vice Premier and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivailo Kalfin yesterday.
"We shall, of course, wait for the report of the European Commission (EC) and we are going to comply with its stand," Douste-Blazy added. Minister Douste-Blazy expressed France's wish to see Bulgaria an EU member on January 1, 2007. The two ministers had a nearly one-hour talk, which was also attended by Bulgaria's Ambassador to France Irina Bokova.
Minister Kalfin thanked Minister Douste-Blazy for France's active position and support for the Bulgarian nurses who were sentenced to death in Libya.
Mr. Kalfin extended special thanks to Minister Douste-Blazy for his contribution to the solution of the Libyan issue and reminded that Douste-Blazy was he first European minister who visited the Bulgarian nurses in Libya.
Minister Kalfin took part in the sitting of the Foreign Policy Committee with France's National Assembly at the invitation of its chairman Edouard Balladur. Mr. Kalfin also met the EU ambassadors in the building of Bulgaria's embassy in France.
On Monday evening, straight after the end of his visit to Brussels, Minister Kalfin attended the opening of the exhibition of painter Emil Stoichev in the Bulgarian Cultural Center in Paris.
