Foreign ministers from the European Union make pessimistic forecasts for the future of the Western Balkans
Foreign ministers of EU countries have expressed the opinion that Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina will join the European Union fifty years after Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia, it emerged in the interview of Ivailo Kalfin, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister for the Bulgarian National Radio. He said that at the Saturday session of EU foreign ministers in Salzburg, Kalfin's EU counterparts had expressed the opinion that "the next EU enlargement wave after Bulgaria and Romania's accession could be for our children and grandchildren." Only Zagreb allegedly has good chances to be acceded soon after Bucharest and Sofia.
