British mobile operator Vodafone and Bulgarian telco MobilTel, part of the MobilKom Austria group, announced on Wednesday that they had signed a long-term partnership agreement benefiting their subscribers.
Under the agreement, Vodafone customers will pay for roaming services in Bulgaria only marginally more than what they pay for calls in their home country. The cheap tariffs will be introduced this summer.
For its part, MobilTel will market Vodafone services for international voice and data roaming, business and consumer products under the dual brand Mobiltel-Vodafon, the Bulgarian company says in a press release. MobilTel’s 3.5 mln subscribers will be able to roam and purchase Vodafone handsets at lower prices.
Wednesday's agreement comes as part of Vodafone's partnership with MobilKom Austria which began in early 2003 and includes Croatia’s VIPnet and Slovenia’s Si.mobil, both owned by the Austrians.
