Bulgaria's President Georgi Parvanov and his Italian colleague Carlo Ciampi inaugurated an exhibition "Treasures of Bulgaria"

Bulgarian culture triumphs in Rome, the cradle of world civilization. Together with President of Italy Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, Georgi Parvanov opened a unique exposition "Treasures of Bulgaria from Neolith to the Middle Ages."
Among the exhibits are some of the remarkable archeological finds unearthed in Bulgaria in recent years, such as the bronze head of King Seutes III and the gold mask of Thracian King Teres. Fifty-six artifacts from 26 treasures will be exhibited for one month in Palazzo del Quirinale every week Monday to Saturday. Admission is free.
President Parvanov qualified the event as symbolic; both presidents think that it marks Bulgaria's EU accession.
The exhibition sends an important message, Parvanov said. Our country's EU integration should be regarded as a comeback to the large family of the European nations, he added.
Palazzo del Quirinale welcomes visitors with a signboard reading that "This exhibition is born of cooperation between Italy and Bulgaria and of love that both countries show to any initiative helping the citizens of Europe understand that they are children of their common history. It is not by chance that the marble head of Emperor Caracalla, one of the builders of Quirinale, is among the finds Bulgaria exhibits in Rome.
"Il Tempo" published an extensive material about the exhibition comparing the archeological finds from Bulgaria with the treasures found in the Tomb of Tutankhamen.
