Age-old wine casks and tools are arranged in the cellar of Zambin's House in the ethnography museum in Vratsa (northwestern Bulgaria). One of the exhibits is the Grand Prix diploma from Brussels, where in 1894 the wines and liqueurs of local producer Stefan Kraskiev won the gold medal.
Famous Bulgarian 19-century writer Aleko Konstantinov, best known for his character Bai Ganio, one of the most popular characters in Bulgarian fiction, when telling of his journey along the then new rail road in northwestern Bulgaria mentioned the cellar. He visited the cellar of Kraskievs brothers and was charmed by the magnificent drinks.
"Clear and gold, the wine's aroma is felt at three metres away and costs only two levs a bottle," Konstantinov wrote after tasting it.
