Following confirmation that the dead swan found near Vidin has tested positive for the H5N1 strain pathogenic for both birds and humans, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Nihat Kabil said all due precautions had been taken. Over the phone he informed the President, the Premier and all institutions involved with the problem. According to Minister Kabil it is not unlikely for the rest of the swans found to test positive for H5N1. The Minister called for calm and for a more rational attitude to the problem.
