"Sofia's chances to host the Winter Olympic Games in 2014 are big," President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Jacques Rogge, stated during his meeting with Bulgaria's PM, Sergei Stanishev, President of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee (BOC), Stefka Kostadinova and Head of the State Agency for Youth and Sport (SAYS), Vessela Lecheva, in the Lingotto hotel in Turin.
Jacques Rogge underlined that the competition for hosting the Winter Olympic Games in 2014 would be very tough, because each of the candidates had its unique advantages.
"Bulgaria's traditions are very good and sound and the level of sports schools in Bulgaria is very high," Mr. Rogge said. He wished luck to the Bulgarian Olympic team in Turin.
Mr. Rogge also said that the future of the Bulgarian sport is very promising, as two world champions - Stefka Kostadinova and Vessela Lecheva - head it.
