President Parvanov: Bulgaria and Spain are Good Neighbors
The Spanish successor to the throne speaks Bulgarian in Sofia
Bulgaria and Spain are good neighbors. This is not a slip of the tongue.
"The bases of the two counties in Antarctica are side by side and the explorers live and work together helping each other," said Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov to Prince Felipe. The two of them inaugurated the new cultural institute named after Cervantes housed in the old building of the USA embassy. The Bulgarian First Lady Zorka Parvanova, Prince Felipe's wife Princess Leticia, Bulgarian PM Sergei Stanishev, Bulgarian Minister of Culture Daniel Valchev, Mayor of Sofia Boiko Borisov, Members of Parliament, ambassadors, Spanish Language and Culture experts also attended the inauguration ceremony. A lot of people waited in front of the building to catch a glimpse of the Spanish crown prince and his wife, who was a popular TV anchorwoman before getting married.
"We are proud of the fact that there are 18,000 students in Bulgaria who study Spanish," said Prince Felipe. In perfect Bulgarian he wished good luck and tailwind to the Cervantes Institute. The Prince and the Princess greeted those who gathered in front of the building and invited an old lady and her three-year-old granddaughter to come inside.
