A real flood of silver coins poured in the National Museum of History: three treasures of silver and copper coins, minted by Bulgarian King Ivan Sratzimir (1371-1396), wait to be bought out by the museum. The two treasures of silver coins consist of 421 and 905 coins each.
They are the biggest of all discovered by now treasures of coins minted by the last Mediaeval Bulgarian ruler. Experts suppose that this is part of the money meant for salaries for the crusaders, led by Hungarian King Sigizmund who came to help King Ivan Sratzimir in his struggle against the Ottoman invaders in 1396.
The third treasure consists of 240 copper coins, also minted by Ivan Sratzimir. The finds were unearthed at a construction site in Vidin region and were immediately delivered to the National Museum of History. The museum received another 62 silver coins from Apollonia Pontica (Sozopol).
The people who discovered them will be dully rewarded, said Bozhidar Dimitrov, Director of the National Museum of History
